About Me

Shannon Switzer Cherkowski: With 20+ years of research experience, and over 1500 trips to the Provincial Archives, I have a vast knowledge of resources available in and around the Edmonton area. As an Adoption Reunification Specialist, I have successfully solved over 450 adoption searches. Whether you need assistance with obtaining documents (probate, divorce, criminal, obituaries and so on) from Alberta, or you would like assistance in finding birth family, feel free to email me. If you are looking for transcriptions of newspapers, check out The Recents and Alberta Genealogy Research http://www.albertagenealogy-research.ca/ My associate Ted has done more work than anyone else I know with transcribing BMD's from the Edmonton Journal and Calgary Herald and other papers. He has also created a remarkable military section that is a must see for those looking for Alberta Military info. Transcriptions remain very important. OCR (optical character recognition) is known for not being able to read all instances of a search term. May all your genealogy searches be successful!
